China’s Historic Export of Broiler Eggs to Pakistan Marks New Era in Agricultural Trade

China Exports First Batch of Broiler Eggs to Pakistan

China has reached a major milestone in agricultural trade with its first export of white broiler eggs to Pakistan. The inaugural shipment, consisting of 172,800 “Guangming No 2” White Feathered Broiler eggs, departed from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and signifies a new chapter in trade relations between China and Pakistan.

Details of the Shipment

The broiler eggs were produced by Foshan Gaoming District Xinguang Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co. Ltd. in collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Animal Science, part of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. This shipment marks the first time China has exported its domestically bred poultry eggs to Pakistan.

Liu Dawei, Deputy General Manager of Xinguang and head of the White Feather Broiler project, highlighted the significance of this export. “This export of white-feathered broiler breeding eggs to Pakistan is a major achievement. We are excited about the potential for expanding our exports to other markets as well,” Liu stated.

Advantages of Guangming No 2 Broiler Eggs

The “Guangming No 2” White Feathered Broiler eggs are known for their efficient growth and high survival rate. At 42 days of age, these broilers typically weigh over 3 kg with a feed-to-weight ratio of 1.32-1.5:1. The exported batch is expected to produce over 50,000 parent broilers after 21 days of incubation, which could lead to the production of more than 7 million commercial broilers, translating to approximately 21,000 tonnes of chicken.

China’s Progress in Broiler Breeding

Historically, the market for white-feathered broiler breeders was dominated by developed countries in Europe and the US. China was heavily reliant on these imports. However, by the end of 2021, domestic varieties like “Guangming No 2” had been developed and approved for independent breeding within China, reducing the country’s dependence on foreign breeders.

Impact on Pakistan’s Poultry Industry

Pakistan currently imports all of its grandparent stock, the birds that produce parent stock for broiler production. With only a limited number of companies managing these imports, the availability of domestically produced broiler eggs from China is expected to benefit Pakistan’s poultry industry by enhancing local production capabilities.

Future Outlook

This milestone in agricultural trade highlights China’s advancements in poultry breeding and opens new opportunities for strengthening trade relations with Pakistan. As both nations continue to develop their agricultural sectors, this export is a significant step toward improving local poultry production and expanding international trade.
